Next Time on Gardeners’ World – 31st July

As summer reaches its peak, Monty plans ahead, and after weeks of soaring temperatures, he’s got his work cut out refreshing the borders with a selection of late-summer perennials. He also has a rambling rose to tackle, and in the veg garden, the cleared beds are quickly being re-sown with crops for future harvests.

Thirty years after the death of gardening legend Geoff Hamilton, Adam Frost makes a deeply personal visit to Barnsdale and reflects on the man whose huge influence helped shape both his career and love of horticulture.

Carol Klein continues her fascinating journey into the secret life of plants. Exploring cutting-edge science, she discovers how vast networks of underground microbes work in partnership with plant roots, revealing the extraordinary hidden world beneath the earth.

There’s an award-winning grower whose passion for gladioli has led to a collection of more than 1,800 spectacular blooms. Plus a visit to a remarkable Balinese-inspired tropical paradise nestled on the edge of the Brecon Beacons.
